To reduce the road traffic noise is an important design factor for environment friendly housing estate. Inthis study, several experiments on the road traffic noise reduction factors which are noise reduction effects of noisebarrier, sound isolation tunnel, distance, types of building layout and road in the housing estate are carried out at field.As the result, the noise reduction of noise barrier is limited under 5th floor of building at the even lay of the land,and according to the increasement of 5th floor height, the noise level of 1~2dB is increased because of the soundrefraction effect by the temperature and reflection of surrounding buildings. The noise reduction of sound isolationtunnel is effected by the transmission loss of pannel, and the noise reduction of 4dB is generated in addition to thehigh level road. Through the measurement by types of building layout, ㄷ shaped layout or parallel layout has theadvantage of sound insulation rather than right angled layout. The noise reduction level according to the distance fromroad is 2.6~4.7dB as long as a double distance at field. By the measurement of noise reduction effect by the typesof road, S shaped road is recommended to reduce the noise in the housing estate because it makes decrease the vehiclespeed. In this case, the noise reduction effects are 1~2dB 15o sloped “S” shaped road type 4~7dB at 30o sloped “S”shaped road type. These results are expected to be used as the fundamental data of design guideline for environmentfriendly housing estate. |
