The existing methods, Daylight Glare Index (DGI) and Predicted Glare Sensation Vote (PGSV) do not describe clearly how to calculate the luminance of windows. In the experiment, discomfort glare from real windows was evaluated by twenty-five subjects. The subjects' evaluation values were compared with the DGI values and the PGSV values calculating with the average luminance of the sky seen through the window, and with the average luminance of the whole window plane. It is known that the DGI and the PGSV yield higher degrees of discomfort glare than that perceived under real conditions. It is necessary to reduce the DGI and the PGSV values.
