Balanced regional development was on of the major priorities of the presidential administration. Each administration is different, but balanced development of the country is generally a priority. Regional development theory, which is the topic of this article, is a field of applied social science that forms the framework of regional development by using theories of urban planning, economics, geography, administration, and sociology. The planning process, including enforcement, evaluation, and reevaluation, is a key research topic in regional development. The goal of this paper is to analyze research trend in the Journal of Korean Regional Development using network analysis. The articles in the journal are published after peer-review by experts in related fields. Authors select and list keyword that they believe embody the most important concepts in their theses. For our analysis, we studied keywords from the articles in the Journal of Korean Regional Development from 2000 to 2016. We analyzed a total of 2,677 keywords in 715 papers, excluding only articles the provided no keywords. We found that the most popular keywords in the Journal of Korean Regional Development were 'Urban Spatial Structure', 'Urban Regeneration' and 'Social Capital'. This suggests avenues for future research and an agenda for the Korean Regional Development Association. |
