This research develops a model of travel mode and home departure time choice for university students' commuting trips. A nested logit model was found to be an appropriate approach. Data from students of Yeungnam University, collected in 1999, were used for empirical estimation of model parameters. The empirical results confirmed several behavioral aspects associated with travel mode and home departure time choice for university students' commuting trips. The paper presents a discussion on implications that can be inferred from the empirical results. Finally, future potential research questions are also discussed. |
