The main focus of this study is the Gyeonghuigung Palace's buildings removed in around the year of 1920. The in-depth independent investigation into the three existing buildings as well as the two lost buildings apparent by an examination of historical records is given priority. The newspaper articles of the era were excerpted to ensure the objectivity of the reference materials collected for the primary and secondary documents, and a field investigation as well as the testimony of witnesses was supplemented. Although the rise and fall together with the prosperity and decay of a royal palace are recorded in historical documents, the actual architectural reality is often beyond our understanding. Even worse is the case where a royal palace was lost, removed, reconstructed, or sold to commoners.
