The objective of this study is evaluate the physical properties of Hanji made in the traditional method to popularize it as building materials such as window papers and wallpapers. This study deal with the indoor air quality and humidity control performance out of the many properties of Hanji in relation to controlling indoor environments. We carry out four experiments on controlling indoor environment which showed below. Hanji as window papers can filter off 47.5 percent of dust more than 5㎛ in the outdoor air. Hanji reduce amounts of carbon dioxide, carbon monoxide, formaldehyde and toluene in the indoor air by passing these harmful gases through gaps between the fibroid material of mulberry. Hanji can absorb and pass through it the water vapor in the air. When we supply water vapor or heat in the room, wallpapers made from Hanji control indoor humidity by absorbing water vapor and window papers made from Hanji control indoor humidity by water vapor permeance. The room with Hanji control indoor humidity gentler than the roon with glasses and vinyl wallpapers. The surface of Hanji adjoining a cold outside is not covered with dew because of same reasons as state above |
