The new urban development in the existing center of passenger car provides the space expansion of volume of Seoul metropolis, so long-distance commuting is increased. According to this situation, the traffic jam and the quality of environment go from bad to worse. For solving the problem, the high density composition land use development of Jobs- Housing Balance is necessary. However, because the high density composition land use development causes the problem due to an overcrowding, even though the Transit-Oriented Development is introduced, the effect does not appear a lot.Therefore, in this paper, to examine the Factors of Success on TOD through the existing study of the Transit-Oriented Development and the case study of foreign country.Through the case study of TOD, there are four factors of Success. First of all, the institutional support is needed that the development of high density is possible. Secondly, The mixture land use (MXD) should go side by side with the TOD. Thirdly, the TOD should be introduced in the area where there is transit demand which is sufficient. Last, for solving the traffic jam in the area where TOD is taken effect, traffic demand policy must be in parallel. |
