A city, an organism which is founded on a region, is including long living evidences and it requires a formation, a growth, a decline and a regeneration depending on an economy, a civilization and politics covering many years. Among that, the heart of a city at historical province have been developed by an accumulation of various functions like an administration, a culture and a commercial business. But, the heart of the city caused all sort of an urban problem like a rapid decrease in population, a malfunction of commercial business and a deterioration of infrastructure by a city expansion and development policies since 1960s. This research standing on understanding historical environment examines reasons and characteristics of a main street process as a heart of the city in Jeon-ju and analyzes a system maintenance for the regeneration of the heart of the city. The purpose of this study is to set up more effective direction for the old town center regeneration process, as basic research in the future. |
