The modern architecture as a record of historical values has a tendency to be preserved as it was, restored, or exclusively used without a certain design plan. This phenomenon results that they remain estranged as a still past in the changing urban area.Thus, in the reformation work for the modern architecture, it should not be focused on its historical meaning any more but its organic activation harmonized with the present space.Besides, as the architecture with historicity and placeness built by the periodic circumstances and spirits has its own strong order, the implied context ought to be read and adjusted in the process of the reformation work.The purpose of this study is to look at the architecture as a Palimpsest with traces, excavate the time layers hidden in the Palimpsest, and finally recover the layers from the past to the future by applying design elements. |
