The study attempts to criticize the problems of the modern point of view in an analysis of a city, to investigate the urban interstices as fragmented 'in-between' space which has been either eliminated or concealed in the process of modernization, and to explore a new view in understanding a city. The main argument is placed on grasping the possible role of the urban interstices as urban mediator, and developing a design strategy to transform such interstices into a new convertible space.
