Since the late 20th century, people began to be interested in the mental consumption activities as the objects of consumption spread from materials to time and space. In particular, U.E.C (Urban Entertainment Center) which has emerged as cultural and commercial complex space for leisure culture life in this consumption-oriented capitalism society is integrating diverse facilities and complex functions. Here, thematic and entertainment elements are introduced to implement a commercial environment distinguished from the conventional commercial facilities. The purpose of this study was to examine and analyze, in view of their design approaches, the cases of down town entertainment commercial facilities where the concept of U.E.C was introduced, and thereupon, discuss their systematic mechanisms reflecting their tectonic planning characteristics and spatial composition principles, and thereby, arrange some references of design methodology for the downtown entertainment commercial facilities to provide for some basic data useful to their future plans. |
