Especially this study focuses on the effects of dynamic externality, knowledge-based industries, and human capital on urban productivity. Empirical work was conducted to estimate the coefficient of explanatory variables to urban productivity in Korea. The main results of panel regression analysis are summarized as follows. Firstly, the ratio of knowledge-based industries and graduate students are more effective than external economies factors in the increase of productivity. Secondly, scale economies and industrial diversity seem to discourage productivity growth, suggesting that the increase of productivity might occur more specialization and smaller firms.
