The findings show that unlike popular notion of urban campuses that are integrated into a larger urban fabric, Seoul's campuses have maintained a territorial independence on mostly hillside locations. Thus, campus expansion has showed the inward tendency, drawing little need of university-community partnership in conjunction with campus planning. Yet, as Seoul's universities face their territorial limitation for future expansion, there emerges a new need for university-community collaborative planning. The study also finds that despite a weak collaboration in campus planning, a significant university-community interaction has been established through various university-sponsoring community services.
