As of today, the biggest part of our metro environment is covered with numerous numbers of commercial signs. It's up to this situation that the diversity of its color and size cause them to blend out each other and hard to be looked at. In attempt to improve this situation, the city of seoul has launched "guide book for commercial signs and designs". The guide book has informations and restrictons on the size, font, colors and lightings in regarding how we should make the signs. However, it's being criticized for the fact that it's going to make every signs look the same without having any identities neither the characteristics of each business. In contrast, there are some cases with the signs that satisfice both being look good and go with environment. They use building's exterior wall as it's background for their signs and signs like this contributes in making our street look more clean and organized. Through this research, we are going to find and analyze the examples of commercial signs that uses the wall as its background which would to contribute in designing better commercial signs. We are going to look into Karosu Street in sinsa-dong Seoul, where they have done this 'street culture' volunteerly and that's as far as we go for this research. The research would be started out by studying the definitions and the variety of commercial signs first and then, move on to the city's guide book. from then, The framework for this study would be drawn. and then the research should go on from there. and finally, Once this research is done, research itself should be the part of other research data in advancing commercial signs that are enviromental friendly and pleasing to public's eye that are suitable for each own business. |
