The study on fire safety that first started in mid-1960s in Europe, has extended the scope to various fires occurred in individual countries and tends to develop the element technologies and evaluation criteria to deal with such fires. In advanced countries, a full-scale fire test including Churchill fire test (UK, 1986), Brodgate fire test (IL, 1991), Collin street fire test (Australia, 1992) and William fire test (Australia, 1994) was conducted to evaluate the dynamic changes of the structure, load paths and the factors that transformed the non-load bearing structure to load bearing-structure, which had not been expected with the traditional tests, thereby enabling to develop the technologies to enhance the fire resistance capability of the structure. In a bid to be compatible with the current tendency as well as to secure the safety technologies to deal with the fire, a real-scale fire test becomes crucial. Thus in the study, a full-scale fire test to evaluate the fire resistance performance of a modular block, was carried out by applying the fire load in natural fire condition. |
