Both articles explain the structure of the respective city in detail although they are not urban planning literature. The urban structure described shows the detailed urban form sought after by the authors. Both articles have deeply affected modern urban planning. In particular, the influence of Utopia is very critical. The articles introduce the following urban planning ideas as policies and techniques employed in the utopian cities: self-sufficiency; integration of cities and countries; population control; management of community life within the building; functionalist land use etc. Particularly, the approaches adopted by Utopia were succeeded to the Garden City idea of E. Howard.
