The aim of this study is to give shape to a plan for sound environment of the region through the relation between residential environment and sound environment in Chonnam Mokpo city. On the basis of residents' awareness on the residential environment and sound environment, it is analyzed the group of sounds matching or existing the surrounding, importance and satisfaction of residents on the sounds, component categories of soundscape such as keynote sounds, sound signals and soundmarks, and awareness of community development. The group of sounds matching the surrounding are classified into 7 types of group such as machinary noise, natural sounds, living sounds, ocean sounds, traditional sounds, waterside sounds and regional sounds. The importance of sounds group affecting the satisfaction of sound environment is the order of regional sounds and natural sounds. The sounds group for being that it would be better or worse to hear the sound classified into 7 types of sounds such as traditional sounds, traffic noises, regional vital sounds, natural sounds, construction noises, rural sounds and train/machinary sounds. It is analyzed that new town dwellers have a positive feelings to the regional vital sounds and natural sounds, and old town dwellers have a positive feelings to the construction noises. As the results of analysis on the component categories of soundscape, it is shows that sounds of high frequency is revealed in order of traffic/machinary sounds and human/animal sounds in keynote sounds, car horns, sounds of a crosswalk, ambulance sirens and boat whistles in sound signals, and church bells, boat whistles, Buddhist temple bells and songs of Mokpo in soundmarks respectively. As the results of anslysis on the awareness of regional development, it is found that amenity resources are connected with various problems in Mokpo city : repair of residential environment and facilities, improvement of urban environment and scenery, repair and expansion of infrastructure, preservation of natural environment and cultural heritage, improvement of tourism culture, improvement of administration and policy, and cultivation of civil ethics. |
