The purpose of this study is to evaluate the energy performance of latent heat exchange ventilation system, and also to propose the application of it in Korean housing. The study was consisted of two parts; the one was the experiment of energy performance of latent heat exchange ventilation system in chamber, and the second was the simulation for energy saving using the experiment data. In the experiment, the conditioned air was supplied through the fan to the ventilation system, and the latent heat exchange was measured at several climate conditions. Total energy saving from the latent heat exchange in the apartments was simulated with TRNSYS program., and it was compared with other ventilation systems. From the experiment, it was found that the temperature of supply air of the ventilation system is lower, 5 deg C than outdoor air, because of latent heat exchange. The operable days of the latent heat exchange are supposed over 63% of cooling days of Seoul. And the system can save about 20% of the cooling energy compared with the no heat exchange ventilation system in the model house. From these results, the latent heat exchange ventilation system will be expected to save the ventilation and cooling energy in Korean housings. |
