However, its heavy self weight causes unnecessary dead load. As an alternative floor system, hollow-core slabs was newly developed inserting elliptical balls into reinforced concrete slab, which can reduce significantly the self weight of the slab. In the present study, flexural and vibration tests were performed on the hollow-core slabs to investigate the flexural behavior and serviceability. Six test specimens were used for test parameters: two conventional RC slabs; two hollow-core slabs; and two half precast concrete slabs. The test parameters also included two different types of plastic balls; elliptical and sphere forms. The test results showed that the crack patten and moment of inertia of the hollow-core slabs were similar to those of the conventional reinforced concrete slabs.
