The focus of previous studies on green building, a notion similar to healthy building, in terms of indoor environment, has taken a rather broad view, with topics including global environment and energy conservation and development. However, research on healthy building, in particular, indoor noise, has been limited despite its large impact on actual health of inhabitants. This indicates the need for more studies on healthy building to help establish indoor noise standards to ensure the health performance evaluation of residential buildings. This study compared and examined indoor noise standards of local and international green building certification criteria and identified basic elements or factors that are applicable when the health performance evaluation of residential buildings.
