The current Maul-mandulgi projects have been planned and implemented by civic groups and administrative controls. Residents, therefore, have been simply engaged in those projects, following the goals set by others. In addition, the current projects have limitations to know what residents' requests are. Because of limited experience of residents, there is also a limitation of them to express their true needs. In this regard, this study has developed "a Maul-mandulgi Image Map Kit", the Resident Participation instrument, which aims to let residents express their needs, encourage their participation, and facilitate communication among experts and residents. Through the Kit, clear opinions can be expressed, and communication will be promoted. The newly-developed Maul-mandulgi Image Map Kit will be used by many residents of every class; so when resident improvement is progressed, it can be used to understand the right residential improvement that residents want. It can make a significant contribution to the process. In this context, before grasping young generation's requirements on residential improvement, the goal of this study is to make practical application of the Maul-mandulgi Image Map Kit to elementary students in order to understand the followings : First, to elementary students who will be the future leaders in sustaining and developing our communities, we give opportunities to have more interests in the maul through which the students can have better understanding and affection for maul. In this way, the student can acquire the community culture. Second, each elementary student will be an information facilitator, using the Maul-mandulgi Image Map in his or her own family. Through the practice, we can learn the desired residential improvement of parents of the students, who are young generation. We can also draw more interests from the parents in residential improvement they want. |
