In addition, the nursing homes for the aged are very poor and disappointing in terms of both quantity and quality. This paper is aimed to investigate if the existing nursing homes for the aged have been properly designed in terms of spatial composition and find out what should be improved after examining the elements of spatial composition. For this, residential space has been investigated through field survey and interview with superintendents against local government-run nursing homes for the aged in Seoul. In conclusion, spatial composition and operating methods differ depending on the date of foundation and the size of the facilities. However, residents' needs and requirements on residential space were pretty same.
