When a large scale earthquake hits our local region, it is predicted by many researchers that lower-rise building would be afflicted with significant damages. As to the method to get rid of such a serious danger, repairing or reinforcing existing structures might be a solution. In this experimental study, however, the researcher was tried to figure out whether the block structure being used mainly for border wall in the site of building new lower-rise structures could be utilized as the earthquake resistant system. To do this, compression strength test for masonry structure using prism was conducted, and also in order to figure out shear performance, shear strength test of wall, as well as the adhesive bond strength test of joint mortar were also performed. Considering the results of adhesive bond strength test using prism, test for adhesive bond strength of concrete block in the mold was conducted using prism, and also comparisons were made between ordinary concrete blocks under the conditions of specific constraints and non-constraints. The results of diagonal shear strength test and the shear strength of the concrete block that stripped from the mold were compared to those ones of the ordinary concrete blocks. Comparative test was also conducted between initial stiffness thereof and that of ordinary concrete block. The results from the tests revealed that the shear strength and adhesive bond strength were occurred at a high degree even under the state of insufficient compressive strength of the mold blocks. So then, it is expected that the effects of reinforcement on the earthquake disaster prevention capacity would increase, and also that the amount of iron reinforced bar would be reduced, in time of the structural performance is identical. |
