The value of Historical, cultural and ecological elements becomes maximized when they are associated among them, than functioning alone. Even though ancient castle, Jung-Ang park and Mu-Sim Cheon, great historical, cultural and ecological elements, are located in the center of Cheongju, the city appear as the typical business district. Thus, this study intended to maximize their functions by finding strategies of downtown regeneration through associating historical, cultural and ecological elements. In order for this, this study conducted comparison analysis of domestic and oversea case studies, to find applicable elements for repairing castle site, construction of stream & pocket park, and development of specified business street associated with old market-modernization enterprise. Also this study suggests the pedestrian network associated with the extracted elements from the analysis of pedestrians in Cheongju CBD. The pedestrian network this study suggests is expected to give CBD of Cheongju to produce characteristic environment to give vitality to the whole business district in CBD. |
