The purpose of this study is to identify the spatial characteristics of square court with Hyangdan, Kim Jeong-hui gotaek, and Yunjeung-Gotaek. The inner square court of each traditional house is differently to limit and enclose the space by the size, visual perception, and spatial experience. Firstly, as for the size of square court, The eaves height of Hyangdan(2kan×2kan) is prescribed the same as the size of the boundary limited by the podium. Kim Jeong-hui gotaek(3kan×3kan) is limited to the line of the ridge of a roof. Yunjeung-Gotaek(4kan×4kan) is not prescribed as a square court. Secondly, as for the visual perception with man's eye, Hyangdan makes imaginary cube to reach to the line of the eaves. Kim Jeong-hui gotaek makes imaginary cube to reach to the line of the ridge of a roof. Yunjeung-Gotaek is prescribed into the space over the line of the ridge of a roof. Thirdly, as for the spatial experience with man's body. It's affected by the entrance, wall and openings, windows and doors pattern. Hyangdan, Kim Jeong-hui gotaek is intensely enclosed and Yunjeung-Gotaek leaves open. But the opening and closing quality of wall patterns is contrary result. |
