Unlike the conventional objectives only laying weight on consumption in between products and their users, the recent conception on the commercial space has arrived at a point where interactions with consumers are becoming more significant, requiring settings inducing them to stay longer and feel unusual experiences. In this regard, the present study aims at providing analytic perspective found at works of Jerde partnership attempting to establish large-scaled commercial complex spaces; more specifically, it focuses much more on spatial contextualization in realizing his design strategy, while further making advantage of space syntax in analyzing Jerde's Namba Park, one of his typical commercial complex spaces, in an attempt to get closer into his works with more objective and quantitative interpretation, the results of which are projected to this paper as an alternative design technique for planning large-size commercial complex spaces. |
