The purpose of this study is to investigate the factors generating the defect of wooden floor coverings and to suggest the alternative methods decreasing the defect. To analyze the cause of defect, such as detachment and decoloration, we conducted an experiment with 6 types of Ondol floor. We tested the characteristics such as working hours, compressive strength, length stability, etc. and the percentage of water content of surface and the inner parts was tested. Moreover, we investigated the change of adhesive strength caused by moisture movement. The detachment of floor coverings resulted from the low surface strength of mortar due to laitance, surface moisture before heating and the decrease of adhesive strength according to movement of moisture between Ondol layers. And we concluded that the decoloration of the floor coverings is affected by continuous water incoming from outside. To decrease the defect of detachment and decoloration, it is necessary to apply the performance improved mortar having a low water-remitar(Ready mixed mortar) ratio, and to prevent thoroughly the water inflow from outer. |
