Global AEC market trend is changing very rapidly with adoption of BIM technology and process. Many issues regarding intellectual property right, copyright, ownership, and the like are raised and became their major concerns as in the other cultural businesses. Among such legal issues, copyright will be handled as a main theme in this paper. BIM technology in the architecture industry to the digital data must be run safely. For a sustainable development of BIM technology, BIM digital data should be protected and managed safely. Recently, This paper will focus on current legal and contractual aspect for the copyright to produce basic solutions for protection.
