This study pursues to identify different types of housing consciousness and subsequent housing needs in order to estimate consumer's housing demand and to provide basic data for residential planning. Data was collected by questionnaire and web survey system, and the subjects for this survey were the Seoul and Seoul metropolitan area residents aged in the 30s to 50s. This survey was conducted from April 2nd to May 11th, 2008. A total of 484 responses were received and 441 of the total were used in this analysis. Description statistics, T-test, F-test, x2-test, one-way ANOVA, and factor/cluster analysis were used to analyze the data with SPSS PC Window Version 12.0. The research drew the following conclusions. Housing consciousness were classified into three types, which showed varying attitudes / values toward residential activities and living space, and difference in a sense of community. Among the three identified types, the type that is "Indifferent to Housekeeping and Community" occupied the largest share despite that the type was not clearly identified in the past. The type that is "Reasonable and Pursues Family Safety" deserves further attention. Customized housing planning is crucial to meet housing consumer’s various needs. As the result of this research showed the respondent's common expectations and unique needs, the customized housing planning can be completed by analyzing the distinct expectations and demands toward living space. |
