It was found that ‘ㅡ’ type plane has been changed into ‘ㄱ’ type and ‘ㅡ’ type plane. Flat structure of ‘ㅡ’ type traditional Korean house representing Honam region has been developed to a variety of ‘ㄱ’ and ‘Sㅡ’ types. In particular, the increase of Hanok with ‘ㄱ’ and ‘Sㅡ’ types was considered as changed by social demand rather than climate or geographical influences. Flat components of public rural Hanok in Jeollanam-do tend to be modernized. Most of flat structures are living room centered flat and have strong character of passage to each room and the concept of living room in Hanok can be said to be the combination of traditional floor and western living room. Placement of living room on the center and of each room around it means division into private room by living room which is public space. It is considered that it has been evolved into modern residence by the change of traditional space division. The number of frontal rooms was mostly 3 to 5 and has been relatively extended in comparison with traditional Korean house. Room composition tends to be a house with several wings and show replacement of roles of floor space by entrance.
