Korea social housing policy was lately made as compared with the advanced welfare country. Even so, that has been focused the quantity of social housing stock, and then socio-spatial exclusion has provoked a controversy in social housing. So it is necessary to study on social mix, outdoor space and social exclusion in social housing. This paper is intended as an investigation of social exclusion on council housing in UK. It explores the relationship between council housing and social exclusion, both in history and policy in UK. Also this paper deals with the characteristics of social exclusion and public space policies in UK. The results are as follows; First, social exclusion mostly occur in massive social housing complex. That is compound, persistent, concentrated and resistant to traditional policy solutions. Second, social exclusion is a complex and multi-dimensional process. Finally, the poor space is a visual indicator about local decline, decrease of life quality and social exclusion. So UK council improves the green and open space in existing residential area to prevent social exclusion. |
