The main objective of this paper is to investigate the problems of indoor airflow caused by stack effect in retail facility and to propose solutions for stack effect problems during the cold season. Building manager interview, drawings review, and walk-thru audits were conducted in existing department store. After several meeting, possible solutions and countermeasures in terms of architectural and mechanical views were proposed for reducing problems due to the stack effect.
