Due to the demographic changes that have produced more nuclear or elderly households, the number of house-like buildings (e.g. officetel, gosiwon, affordable senior houses) continue to grow. The Ministry of Land, Transport and Maritime Affairs recognized the importance of boosting the housing supply for such nuclear households, and for this introduced a new housing type, called "quasihousing" in April 2010. The purpose of this study is to analyze the design standards of quasi-houses, and compare these to urban-lifestyle houses, both as small urban housing.
