A lot of countries strive to cope with climatic change. In particular, the UK is taking the lead in establishing the policies of climatic change. Recently, existing Eco-friendly concept has changed into the sustainable concept. Accordingly, the measures against climatic change are taken in a more mandatory and obligatory way. As a result of climatic change, the Climate Change Act was established in October, 2008. In the case of residential environment, existing eco-friendly certification system called 'EcoHomes' was amended into 'the Code for Sustainable Homes.' Therefore, the evaluation of energy-efficiency and eco-friendly section became mandatory in the housing sector. Accordingly, ZEDfactory, which is designed to develop the BedZED in London, the UK takes the lead in developing various types of low-carbon housing models in accordance with the amended eco-friendly housing certification system. This thesis attempts to examine the overall housing types according to various locations and density, suggested by ZEDfactory, and intensively analyze RuralZED, which is the small-sized prototype. |
