For this purpose, we researched preceding studies for leisure trips related to the leisure environment at people's places of residence in order to set up a theoretical framework. We then conducted an empirical analysis of the relationship between the leisure trip distance on weekends and the leisure environment at the people’s places of residence using the results of a household trip survey in 2006. The empirical analysis identified that the SP (Shopping and retails density) variable had a negative correlation to the leisure trip distance on weekends.
