This study aims to propose improved directions for planning of fire stations through its analysis of spatial organization and characteristics by area, mutual connections and circulation system design between each area, the publicness of regional public facilities based in case studies of new-design fire stations. Plan for creating a separate space as a waiting space around the courtyard is desirable as a planning arrangement to promote the pleasantness and independence of waiting spaces, rest for the purpose of rejuvenation, readiness for action, training and the promotion of communal spirit among workers. For worker readiness, it is desirable to situate waiting spaces in places horizontally connected to the garage to facilitate horizontal circulation. There is also a need to design waiting spaces as groups of single rooms to protect individual privacy and promote a sense of community. For the rejuvenation and self-development of the workers, spaces to enjoy music and films, seminar rooms, and small-group rooms should be considered, with the concept that for more open, educational and cultural use of regional public facilities, the creation and ideas for programs for fire safety education, museum about the history of fire-fighting, library and information rooms about fire-fighting are needed. |
