The ways of conducting the investigation over the soundscape research were verified three types of method such as hearing survey, field survey and documentary survey which is to find out relationship between local residents and their societies uncovering all kinds of sound in relation to the region. Comprised of various soundscape research from Schafer's WSP pioneering activities to diverse research activities of Japan, the leading cases show a characteristic of soundscape research which is to grasp the sound environment as a overall sound culture.
