요약2	While the whole world has faced severe elderly related issues due to an aging society, retirement of baby boomers is expected to worsen this current situation. Along with the elderly phenomenon, western countries that have encountered aging problems have already recognized the importance of housing in relation to elderly welfare and are striving for developing various elderly housing types. Among those elderly housing types, Continuing Care Retirement Community (CCRC) is increasingly requested to be provided more by the elder population as it supports residents' health through sustainable and Aging in Place living. However, as the concept of CCRC is very new in Korea many trials and errors have been occurred while developing elderly housing that follows the notion of CCRC. Thus, this study delineates health-support characteristics of leading CCRC case in America where elderly housing has been actively developed to learn from and to make less errors. The main method is a POE study through site visits, the research subject is La Costa Glen in San Diego, California which has been known as leading CCRC. The site was visited for 5 days from 21 to 25 March 2010 and evaluated by walk-through of the facility with the staff. Furthermore, site photographs were taken and study contents were collected through websites and literature reviews, As a result, applied physical, psychological, social health-support characteristics were found and characteristics that encouraged social health were established the most as La Costa Glen was built to assist elderly group living. The result of this study could be applied to future CCRC planning in Korea supporting healthy aging.
