Methyl cellulose is a functional additive which is commonly used in drymix mortars such as tile adhesive, tile grout, cement plaster, etc. In this study, the effects of substitution degree of methyl cellulose on the adhesion strength of tile cement mortars were investigated. As a result, the open time strength of the mortar has a good correlation with wetting capability of the mortar, and the adhesion strength of the mortars are affected by the substitution degree (MeO%, HPO%, HEO%). An interesting result that the adhesion strength of the mortar is increased with increasing air content was obtained. |
