A document research method was used to understand the general notion, characteristics and housing types of young one person household. Case studies were used to analyze and classified the spatial characteristics of units and shared space. Findings of this study were as follows: 1) Young one person household has generally individualistic and pragmatic tendency that attaches importance to efficiency while they act alone. Also these propensities bring about various social and psychological problems such as social isolation, loneliness etc. 2) There are two aspects in unit planning characteristics 'The spatial planning reflecting essential living activities' and 'The free plan configuration', and in shared Space planning characteristics 'The complexation of public functions through the control of private function' and 'Flexibility for public functions'.
