In recent years, with the emerging need to derive measures to preserve and protect Korea’s cultural properties, historic timber structures have been a focus of attention. Of the fire-retardancy methods applied to timber structures with dancheong (traditional multicolored paintwork), the spraying method is known to deteriorate the quality of the historic timber structures by causing the paintwork to fade, producing efflorescence, or absorbing moisture. To protect the timber architecture from such problems and improve the fire-retardancy method for dancheong, a component analysis of fire-retardant liquid (XRD, XRF, SEM) was performed, and after-growing-time, after-flame-time, char length and char area were analyzed to verify flame resistance based on the fire-retardancy method. |
