With increasing interest in creativity, various policies are being executed in the areas of culture and arts in order to construct “ creative cities.” In particular, artists’ villages, which are communities of artists providing small·size creation spaces, are drawing attention and their construction is increasing. Nevertheless, there have been few studies on the activities of artists who are the main subjects of such creation spaces. Thus, this study named a community or space of artists “artists’village”and analyzed artists’ creation activities in the village. Creating actions comprehend various processes from the conception of ideas to the distribution of created works, and this study attempted to examine artists’ creating network through investigating the network among diverse subjects established in the processes. For this purpose, we selected Totatoga in Busan, a representative planned artists’ village, and Munrae Artists’ Village in Seoul that was formed spontaneously, and derived implications from them for the development and activation of artists’ villages in the futures. When cultural identity is emphasized as a technique of urban regeneration, this study is expected to give many implications for the formation of clusters through the network of actors in the construction artists’villages. |
