Because of the lack of available land with the natural environmental conditions and population density of the lower land of the Netherlands than the sea level, and the urbanization of the industrial revolution, the Multi-Family Housing have the symbolic characteristics, which represents the housing culture, in the deployment and development of residential housing. From the early introduction of the Multi-Family Housing, the Netherlands formed a residential community by considering a plan of the Communal space(it can be known by the expansion plans of Berlage’s Amsterdam, 1902), while maintain the urban context. Therefore the purpose of this study is to draw the characteristics of them by considering the component and the forming techniques of the communal spaces of the Multi-Family Housing. |
