This study focused on the appearance preference of public toilet according to the location and the relationship of architectural design languages and emotional expressions. For this study, we surveyed the public toilets in Chungnam Province and classified the location of public toilet and analyzed the design characteristics of the building. And we have made a question about the variables of design characteristics and psychological preferences on the several buildings according to the location. As a result, the as follows : First, public toilets which were built by municipal can be an important public design elements for making the images of place and location, and should combine with the conceptual images of the place and location. Second, the plans for public toilets are mainly reflects the standard design, but sometimes the shapes of plan are varies from round to octagon according to the location. Third, the main appearance preferences factors are the overall shape of public toilet, presentation of local images, design of elevation and the design concepts such as friendliness and modern images. |
