The number of people who move to the city from country side has been increasing dramatically due to the development of industry. The industrial development leads more working women then the past. Most of working women do not have enough time for their children so the birth rate is much lower than the past. That fact causes the number of elementary schools which closed has gone up gradually. There are 632 closed schools in the north Keyong-Sang-Do area in 1st of March in 2011 and the 54 schools out of 632 do not use for any purpose at all. The other words, 8.5% of shut down schools are abandoned using for nothing. One of the roles of schools is as a community. Therefore, shutting down schools means closing community area as well. As the birth rate goes down year by year, the proportion of elderly people increases. According to a research, the percentage of old people is 5,300,000 (10.9%) in 2011, 7,700,000 (15.7%) in 2020, and 16,000,000 (15.7%) in 2050. This research shows people need more facilities for elderly people. Consequently, this essay will present how to reuse the closed school as nursing home which is for dependant old people. Reusing closed school will not only decrease the number of abandoned school but also increase the number of elderly welfare facilities. |
