The purpose of this study is to survey the overall landscape status and to analyze sub-sectional characteristics of Cheonggyecheon and Yangjecheon, which are the most representative urban streams in Seoul. Consequently, it could suggest the efficient and systematic policies for the management of urban stream landscape. Semantic Differential Scale(SD scale) with landscape adjectives and visual preference were used to survey the landscape characteristics, and the data were analyzed by descriptive analysis, t-test, factor analysis and cluster analysis. The overall and sub-sectional characteristics were analyzed and three main factors of visual landscape were contracted; naturality, orderliness and diversity. Cumulative factor loading of these three factors was 63.779%, which was quite high. Among those factors, the orderliness is the most effective factor to influence the visual landscape preference. The sub-sections were categorized into five types by the cluster analysis. The sub-sections of Cheonggyecheon were categorized into more urban and artificial types, and on the other hand, those of Yangjecheon were divided into more natural types. It is recommended to set the proper goal based on the current landscape condition and future improvements. |
