The aim of this study is to explore the determinants of the residential duration at a current residence after a household member’s change according to the life-cycle variation. This study carried out via an empirical analysis using the Cox Proportional Hazard Model with Korean Labor and Income Panel Study data from 2000 to 2008 for the Seoul Metropolitan Area. Regarding the results of the empirical analysis in the case of increased households, older householders, households with school-aged students and younger children, those with more family members, and house owner-occupier households staid longer at the same place. On the other hand, in the case of reduced households, older householders, households without school-aged students and younger children, owner-occupiers, and occupants living in a single detached house have been living longer at the same place. These results show that the factors affecting the duration of residence at a place differed by the pattern of the household member’s change. |
