However, it has been found that most existing methods are not applicable due to the problem of unique site conditions (the limited space between the preserved walls and the newly constructed structure). Through the technical evaluation, experiment and computer simulation, we developed a new method "Balanced Transfer Frame"to allocate the vertical load of the new structure to the internal micro-files within the existing foundation.
