Although many advantages of the LED lighting fixtures, several LED lightings for advertisements have produced light pollution. The Ministry of Environment will enforce ‘Light Pollution Prevention Act’ in February 2013. Thus, this study is to analyze the effects of luminance characteristics of LED advertisement lighting on light pollution. For the purpose, the luminance meter, Photolux3.2, was used to measure the surface luminance and evaluate the light pollution on advertisement lightings by using ight pollution standards of Seoul Metropolitan City. As the results, the LED Channel letter signs has lower average luminance than the other LED signs, however there is some possibilities of light pollution due to the quantity of LED module or the performance of LED light source in the sign board. In case that LED edge lightings exceed the light pollution standards in residential and commercial zones.
