This study aims to find out the relationship between the environments and the elders. For this, we used the Person-Environment Fit Model and surveyed 84 people who are older than 60. With the data from this survey, we analyzed the effects of environments on the residential satisfaction and the intention to live of the elderly. First, the results of the residential satisfaction show that the convenience, the safety, and the public welfare among the personal preferences are significant. Among the environmental characteristics, the pleasantness, the convenience, and the public welfare are significant to residential satisfaction of the elders. Also, the P-E fit of the convenience, the safety, and the public welfare are important. These means that to improve the residential satisfaction of the elderly, the environments should be pleasant to live, easy to access for various facilities, and equipped with various public services and medical services. Second, the results of the intention to live of the elders show that the convenience and the safety are significant among the personal preferences. Among the environmental characteristics, the pleasantness and the convenience are crucial to the elderly's intention to live. Also, the P-E fit of the convenience is important. These results means that the environments which are proper for the ageing in place should be pleasant, convenient, and safe. |
